———

You might think it peculiar to let kids,

Be small, to let them be silly, weird,

When most of their life is spent in,

‘Adulting,’ learning how to,

Be big, responsible,

I say as Auntie:

Let them be them,

Creative,

Full of,

Fun.

——

Let,

Them be,

Wild beings,

Think of stories,

Imaginative,

And implausible, but —

Believe them because you’re,

Playing along, taller tales,

Demonstrate creativity,

For kids, it keeps them young, growing older.

——

Think of tilting towers, Big Ben in blue –

Green prairie sky, a storm brought him here.

But he bends, tilts just because and,

Storm brought along a grand,

Gothic cathedral roof,

Pointed top I’m sure —

Missed somewhere; hot —

Air balloon,

Holds our,

Dreams.

—–

Where,

We live

With such rich,

Possibility.

Imagining,

Tall towers floating in,

Moon lit skies, princesses,

Saving themselves, jumping from,

Clouds, the moon indeed smiling so proud,

Girls and boys — escape from their own towers.

——

Locked fortresses floating, new challenge,

Escaping by flying pirate ships old,

Never turning back to the light,

Of a trapped home, wishing most,

To be little, secure,

Not worry about,

A dragon’s fire,

A port in,

Mid-air,

Light.

—–

Sought,

In night’s,

Binding grip,

All children search,

For understanding,

A hug and kiss when they’re lost,

Hurt, or at least a safe place works.

For home; mom’s gentle touch when,

Nightmares thrive; become to real, kids hide;

But parents are there, provide a haven.

——-

So encourage kids to harness their,

Creativity, to paint and draw,

To find their passions in life, so —

Maybe they can live them too.

Or find a haven in,

Their talents, their skills,

Urging away,

Stress; relief,

‘Cause life,

Hurts.

—–

So,

We teach,

Live your dreams,

Let them unwind

You; be as free as

Butterflies; don’t be tacked,

To a board on the wall kept.

Fly lovely, safe, remembering,

Humanity is indeed so —

Delicate at times; you’re not invincible.

—–

But in the power of the imagination,

You can always escape the threads,

Binding you to reality.

You can have liberty,

Smile, eat your cake too,

And hopefully,

Your partner,

The one who,

Loves you,

Most.

—–

Has,

Their own,

Inner child,

Understands and,

Knows, love is gentle,
Love is fiery, bold,

Love and creativity,

Both hold; let you be dauntless, free,

Full of life, security to —

Be held; be wild both as adult and child.

Signs written on the walls, handwriting no —

One reads such a language anymore.

But you saw the signs, the moment —

Words in my head untangled.

I don’t understood us,

Myself, in this mess.

My feelings confused,

Time was short.

Now we’re —

Gone.

—–

Signs,

Are so,

Clear to you,

I don’t need some —

Gifted seers dream.

Echoes in my head rhyme,

Tapping my foot along in —

Rapid time, and I wonder where —

My search will begin, if I find us?

Quarter past, rustle up — we fit or we don’t.

——

Somehow I’m the one in control, I choose,

I decide; I want to just go with —

The flow, not worry, not decide;

But at least I have my say.

Yet life works out your way.

Grand design heart beats,

Perplexed by these —

Sounds, friends, foes,

Yourself,

Dazed.

—-

It,

Mattered,

Not, writing —

So vivid and —

So crystal clear I,

Felt resilience in,

My chest; down to the beach,

Our getaway, but rhythms ting.

They keep echoing, it’s exhausting,

Figuring out your charms, while packing for the sun.

—-

You’re packing; feel the heart attack we live,

A life I want not, I’m looking for the shore.

For a place to get of off the flooding —

Boat before it carries me down.

Where are you, where’d you go?

Writings on the wall,

Said it all well,

They’re erased.

You’re gone,

Fled.

Brooke Shaden Photography

Resplendent woman in her ivory gown,

Treading downstairs in sleep, not knowing,

Dreams guide her graceful body through,

A darkened house, unaware —

Their mama walks in sleep,

Following her story,

Playing out in,

Dream –

Scapes.

She’s,

But a —

Waif as she,

Opens the front,

Door, padding barefoot,

Unto the beach, squishing,

Sand between her toes, walking,

To the ocean’s shore, where waves pull,

Lantern in hand, believes she’ll become,

A mermaid, as she wades in waters deep.

Waves brush her thighs, makes her gown sodden, wet.

She doesn’t realize anything is wrong but —

She keeps wading into the ocean,

Despite, the cold and water,

Trying to suck her down,

She keeps walking,

Knowing that,

Reward,

Waits.

Waist,

Deep she,

Kicks off from,

Sandy bottom,

She floats, her lantern —

Lights the way, as water comes,

Up to her waist and past her —

Chest as she swims, dreaming she has,

Her mermaid’s tale, joins her sisters in —

Ocean, she greets them, soaring in the waves.

From the house, a small girl watches, mama sink.

Tears roll down, soft cheeks; mom doesn’t return.

“Stay away from the ocean girl,” her —

Grandma always warned them.

Mama needed freedom,

Didn’t actually die.

Daughter knows she,

Swims in deep,

Peaceful

Now.

Girl,

Is sad,

But knows her –

Most loved mama,

Goes to happier place,

To ocean’s froth, she’s free.

Gran cooks pancakes, strawberry —

Sauce and whipped cream; mama’s favorite,

Girl watches with delight how mermaids play,

Sees Mom flip jade tail, waving to her girl.

The poetry 101 prompt is faces with alliteration.

——–

——-

http://www.favim.com

——–

You were sleeping so soundly, tinatangi

Sun through window, I stifled a grin when,

Turned towards me tangled in your,

Dreams, whispering words; couldn’t —

Understand what you said,

But I studied your face,

Relaxed, peaceful,

Why are you,

Always,

Grim.

——

Mask,

Yourself,

Expression,

Sober reflection,

Until I made you smile,

Until You cornered me,

Stealing a kiss and,

I stole a few more and you,

Never resisted until you,

Pulled back, gasping, feeling was —

Mutual; then you turned emotionless.

—-

But the hallway kisses sparked repeats and,

Clothes half-off, avoiding all others,

Enough of closets, empty rooms,

So now, I’m in your bed and,

Passions had its day.

Do you soundly sleep?

Replete, happy?

Or are you,

Hiding,

Us.

—–

I’ve

Watched your,

Face alter,

Become gentle, soft,

I’ve seen your eyes gleem,

Small wrinkles, laugh lines in–

Corners of eyes and your smile,

Sends me spinning, lips plush and full.

Your nose rubs against mine in a kind of,

Kiss, they kiss in other lands; here we’ve our mouths.

——

Wonderously blessed, to oversee your sleep,

You lay vulnerable to the world but,

From me never hide; I’ll keep you,

Safe from prying eyes but mine,

Allow me adventure,

Cheekbones high, stubbled,

Jaw; dip in chin.

Scent of fresh,

Showered,

Skin.

—–

I

Know your,

Hard gazes,

And brown eyes soft,

For me to love you best.

After, you rest tranquil.

Breath, so comforting; lulling me,

Into another nap; exploring paused,

Then, hands sifting your dark silky hair, mussed.

——-

Smoothing thumb, curved brows; trace eyelashes,

Long and sinfully dark; then over mouth.

Lush, inviting; I imprint my own,

Over collarbone, hollow–

Of your throat, back up to,

Plush lips; you wake and,

Caress my cheek.

Laughing of

My love,

Trace.

———–

I could keep on telling you of all the —

Possibilities, endless in row,

Diamonds glittering, light within,

Such falseness in clarity,

Like you, extensively cheap —

You don’t comprehend,

Lies kill love and —

Con-artists,

Thrive; I

See

—-

Through,

Your lies,

You’re glass with,

Fractured cracks split,

In all directions,

Blaming me because you’re,

A lost boy never grown up,

Buying your way with jewels and,

Expensive booze on your breath; putrid,

The smell, of vanity, and self-deceit.

——-

Broken old man, in business suit glaring,

Imagining you’ve an empire but you’ve,

Only got a shilling and its,

Currency long past, not used,

So pay for your glitter,

Die for Diamond rings,

You’ve only things,

And no ounce,

Substance,

Fake.

—-

Look

Down on,

Condescend,

From you high horse,

Fall on marble, crack,

You’re a paragon,

Sayings of virtue spent,

Lying with each word on your tongue,

Never saying what you mean and —

Not receiving your just dessert,

Razing a woman below your boot,

It’s not Madmen; she cares not for jewels.

Rather, she wishes you’d respect her more,

Pay her equal for the same type of job,

Not peer down on her to use her,

Not think she is stupid with —

To be stuck,

Keeping,

Jewels,

Don’t phase,

Her more than,

A moment’s past–

She sells them all back,

Letting you see she’ll toss,

Your silly rock she’ll not be —

That girl; she fought for her place and,

The dealings were rough; no respect for —

Her a diamond unformed a jewel still scorned.

Writing 101: Poem – Etherees – “The Mark” #everydayinspiration

Today’s prompt is to use a quote to begin our writing.

———

The battle of life is, in most cases, fought uphill; and to win it without a struggle were perhaps to win it without honor. If there were no difficulties there would be no success; if there were nothing to struggle for, there would be nothing to be achieved.  – Samual Smiles

———

Such goals we have to not miss the giant mark,

To accomplish though we faulter and–

Find ourselves falling of the mark short.

My gaze has set upon the hill,

My determination —

Evident and,

Perspiration,

Relevant.

Crying,

March.

—-

I,

Will not —

Let failure,

Tarnish my–

Intent to triumph,

Strength, running through my bones,

Sweat upon my brow and I,

Reach for that set goal growing still,

Never going to give, can’t alleviate —

The pain I meet, my struggle with heart.

—–

There is no distance I won’t go, no path–

My sword won’t clear the way, lashing through,

Knowing my own virtue isn’t,

Worth a mercenary,

Heart of one who cannot,

Taste the wine which is,

His life’s blood met,

Breaking bread and,

Fighting on,

Life is,

Tough.

—-

Goal,

In my,

Grasp I,

Keep winning,

There is no place to —

Wander of path I’m kept,

Focused on the prize before —

I am confused by life’s debris,

Keep up the challenge, the struggle,

Never fear, blessed angels fight with you to end.

—–

No weakness in my lungs, battle cries are —

Rung; an invading army charges through,

Not pierced by arrows or swords of,

Finest sharpest metals mixed,

Alloys fit to strike wrath,

Life is a fight won,

It’s hard to breathe.

Even stabbed we,

Triumph.

At last,

Rest.

In sleeping bag beneath the sky this man,

At last rests his weary head because,

Tomorrow morning chaos reigns,

To do something you don’t,

You’ve no time to lose,

But you do,

Poem: Etherees –  “Always Drunk at Thirty-Six”

http://www.hgn.com

——-

Hangovers must be hell at thirty-six.

It’s nice to feel a little tipsy,

But aren’t you too old for weekends,

Passed out; weekend nights binging,

No, don’t live life wasted,

Watch your intake guy,

Nice to let life,

Be; Moving,

With the

Flow.

One,

Day you,

Need to put,

Your grown up pants,

On each foot and think,

“Do, I want to spend life —

Drinking time away when I —

Could be living life loving ’cause,

I’ve a woman who lights up my days?

When I’ve life complete, why spend it wasted ?”

There’s a reason we all get drunk, sometimes.

We’re hurt bad inside, we need numbness,

We’re trying to forget a hard job,

Covering monotony,

Or we need some courage,

To do difficult things,

Losing ourself,

In ruby-red,

Or white,

Beer.

—-

Try

We think,

How’d we get,

To this place where,

We’ve no memory,

Tried forgetting reality,

Was merely out for good times,

Spending the night laughing with friends,

Don’t remember conversations with some —

Woman, no girl who matters; booty call.

Hangover fades and you think back on her, there,

For your enjoyment, drunken fumble in,

Some bedroom, yours — you always come,

To your place, you prefer to,

Make them leave embarrassed,

Because you’ve no memory,

They’re a night,

A moment,

You made,

Null.

—-

Void,

You hear,

Sounds so loud,

Awaking finally,

The worlds gone ink dark,

You’re wandering between,

Days, which keep fading into the —

Last day, recall being fully —

Awake, not caught in haze of rye, rum —

Shots done all night as in younger days.

—-

Maybe, you’ve never passed this stage, growing,

Past a point most people realize some–

Day in their late-twenties when,

Hangovers last two-days,

And along come their kids,

With their beloved spouse,

Socializing change,

Set example,

Fun times,

Change.

—-

But

I think,

You’re single,

Might impress on,

Pretty women’s view,

You’re not in drunken haze,

You can hold your liquor well,

Enjoy yourself sometimes, let liquor —

Relax your soul, knowing your limit,

She sees you being yourself, not some drunk.
