Happy mid- JUNE. I’m off to Vegas on the nineteenth. So, excited for that as it’s been few years since I was there. Hope you all have some awesome summer vacations planned. I’ll be more absent than usual for a week or so from the nineteenth to twenty-sixth of June. Now, for some quotes:
Jewel studied herself in the mirror, envious of her sister, Luna, who prepared for the party behind her.
She sighed as she stared at the dress her mother bought her; it was child-like. Jewel peered at Luna and her white freckle-less complexion. Instead of having lustrous golden-hair, Jewel was cursed with her grandfather’s ginger mane and speckled skin. I’ll never be a counterweight to Luna or those mean girls in my class.
Luna had style, while Jewel’s clothes were drab. The outfits her mother insisted she wear wouldn’t qualify as trendy. Emilia, had no eye for colors that corresponded to her daughter’s skin tone and hair. All Jewel wanted was to dress as fashionably as other girls.
She believed she was thewless compared to Luna, who shoved her aside, acting playful. She twirled her red gown in front of the mirror, and Luna’s skirt revolved around her perfect hips.
Jewel frowned. She was jealous of her sister. The pressure of living up to Luna’s elegance, and thinking about her mother’s treatment made Jewel’s head spin and her lungs constrict. She gasped for air and her heart beat sped. Luna noticed Jewel’s breathing and rubbed her back.
She was the only person who knew how much Luna despised her own appearance. “What’s wrong, Sis? Having anxiety? Relax, it will be fine. I left the mean girls from your class off the guest list.” Jewels chest and and hands unclenched.
“I keep telling you, you’re sixteen and you’ll grow into your beauty soon. Don’t let mother’s expectations bother you or those *itches from school. When I was in your grade, mean girls hated me too.”
Jewel nodded as the rest of her body calmed. “You keep telling me that my awkward stage is finite. But, I’ve always been gangly and plain.”
Luna smirked and grabbed Jewel’s hand as they sat on the bed. “No, you were a cute kid. Everyone thought so, and you’ll be a beautiful woman soon. You’re a late bloomer. Soon you’ll have boobs that rival those *itches in your class. Guys have a thing for red-heads, you know.”
“Mine’s ginger, not red.”
Luna squeezed her hand. “You’re beautiful as you’re are now. But I can’t make you see that. You have to believe that inside.” Jewel closed her eyes. She wished Luna’s words were true.
“You can’t keep postponing all of father’s parties or he’ll get mad again. One day you’ll believe you’re as gorgeous as I think you are. None of the women in our family are ugly or plain.”
Jewel shrugged. “I’m not ready, yet. Tell dad I’ll be fifteen minutes.” Luna hurried towards her door then halted.
She turned around and clasped her hands. “Jewel, wear one of my dresses. I have one that would be gorgeous on you. It’s not as trendy as the one you have, but the emerald green will highlight your hair and complexion well; your svelte figure too.”
Luna grinned and nodded. “I’ll talk to mom about letting me shop with you. Then, you and I can choose the clothes you like to wear. Mom can’t dress you like a twelve-year old forever.”
Jewel scrambled to Luna’s closet. She yanked out the emerald dress. “This one?”
“You bet. I always thought the color suited you better. You’ve got deasil, Jewel. Many excellent qualities on the outside and on the inside too; don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.”
Luna left and Jewel tore off her muted gown and slipped on the emerald silk dress. She zipped it up and was shocked to discover the shade made her skin glow. It complemented her hair too.
Her shoulders were bared and ruching at her chest enhanced Jewel’s cleavage. A bow on the gown sat above her bottom. To her delight, the dress was tight and ended mid-thigh.
Jewel grinned and borrowed a pair of her sisters heels. She flounced down the stairs. For once, was excited to attend one of her father’s parties. She couldn’t wait to see the expression on her mother’s face.
So, a few weeks ago I received my second Deck of Scarlet Palette #8. This one is called the ‘Dream Palette,’ and came with a pretty lip gloss too. Now, I’m on their two-month rotation and won’t receive my next palette until July; but only if I like it ad it’s colors. With this subscription, you always have the option to opt out if you dislike a bi-monthly palette. The website is here http://www.deckofscarlet.com and you can sign up through the link here: Deck of Scarlet bi-monthly Subscription.
I love the portability if these palettes and that you can easily slip them in your purse or in an overnight bag and not have to worry about eyeshadow, blush, highlighter, and lipstick. I love the pink and peachy hues of the Dream Palette. They are so flattering on most any skin tone.
Enchanted is the most beautiful shimmering coral shade for eyeshadow and Myth looks wonderful in your crease, or alone for no-worry eyeshadow. The shade, Crown, is a deep pink, and is pretty in your crease to amp up your look, or too mix with Enchanted and make it more pink . Tiara is a beautiful shade of blush, the most perfect light pink for anyone, and can be worn subtly or more boldly on your cheeks.
The highlighter, Fairy Dust, is a lovely honey-gold shimmer that is subtle. It can be layered for a more intense effect, but works well on your cheekbones, brow bone, nose, and inside corner of your eyes. Both the blush and highlighter are easily usable with other eyeshadows you own. The Fairy Dust highlighter is beautiful on your eyelids with Myth in your crease for minimal eye makeup with a touch of summer shimmer.
Above, you can see the entire palette, including two lipstick shades. Kiss is the perfect nude shade with a bit more pink in it then my last palette’s brown-nude shade. It mixes well with the deep pink shade called Maiden, for an enhanced pink-nude or you can blend the two colors to the intensity you desire.
A deeper lipstick shade Maiden or Maiden with a touch of Kiss is awesome for nighttime events or if you want make your lips pop and keep the rest of your makeup toned down in the office or out and about. One vital point, these two lip shades are not moisturizing as the lipsticks in my first Deck of Scarlet palette, so put gloss on your lips before applying the lipstick. Let it sick-in while you do the rest of your face.
Lips are given a great deal of attention in the Dream palette. For this reason, the boxes extra for the Dream palette #8 this month was this gorgeous shimmer-nude/pinklipgloss called Love Spell. It mimics the sheen of the Enchanted eyeshadow, although, much less intense and more pink.
Put it over top the nude lipstick color Kiss or over your bold lipstick shade of Maiden for a luminous lipstick look. Or, wear the lipgloss colour of Love Spell alone for a nude-pink lip with sheen. The gloss has more moisture than the lipsticks, but I’d still let a lip balm sink into your lips first.
Here’s the pretty packaging of the May Deck of Scarlet Palette #8, so you have good idea of how portable the palette is. Again, the pigment in the palette was excellent, and stays on well throughout the day. It’s easy to carry with you for touch ups.
Around my eyes I tight-lined inside my upper and lower water lines with black (dark brown) and then put a thin line of smudge pot or gel waterproof black (or dark brown) liner along my eyelashes. I blended this second line into my eyelashes with a tiny eyeshadow brush.
In case pink or coral is not so much your color, the liner prevents your eyes from appearing sickly, if the shades are not quite your skin tone colors. What I love about the Deck of Scarlet Palette’s is that anyone can wear these colors in the right way. The tutorials by other bloggers are so helpful for this.
Kim Thai is the Instagram/Blogger who designed the Deck of Scarlet May #8 palette and as last time, I’m posting tutorials below. To note, as before, Deck of Scarlet Palettes are Natural and Cruelty Free.

2. @21makeupaddictions Dream Deck of Scarlet Palette #8 Makeup Look on Instagram:
I was so excited to try this for setting my makeup at the end of my routine; I was impressed.
– This setting powder is awesome for any skin type and is made with ‘Amazonian clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River.’ It controls your skin’s ‘oil production,’ ‘brightens dark spots,’ and ‘balances your moisture levels.’
– The powder also works to ‘mattify makeup, minimize pore appearance, blur skin imperfections, and reduce shine.’ As you can see, the powder is translucent and useful for a variety of purposes. The powder is fine and ‘spreads easily;’ it won’t cause ‘flashbacks’ in photos.
OFRA Cosmetics: Liquid Lipstick in Ipsy Unzipped:
A matte purplish shade that won’t ‘dry out your lips.’ It has ‘Vitamin E to keep lips ‘hydrated, comfy, and soft.’ Not my favorite shade — too dark, but a color that would suit my skin tone, nonetheless.
– This Lipstick is ‘lightweight, long-lasting, and stays put’ for a long time. The shade is a ‘nude-berry shade’ and I passed it on to another lady who likes the shade better. Overall, an awesomeMay Ipsy Bag!
Happy Monday, again! I hope you’re enjoying spring wherever you are in the world, although, that might mean fall or Autumn in some places of the world!
I came across a cool beauty subscription on Instagram called Deck of Scarlet . You can sign up on the website, if you think it’s something you would love and use. The price of signing up for the subscription is worth it. Most makeup palettes of this quality are so much more money.
Deck of Scarlet’s makeup quality is amazing, vegan, cruelty free, and all those wonderful things that mean the makeup is organic, natural, and better for your skin. I love that this subscription is a palette and not separate beauty products alone.
When you can find makeup that also has excellent pigment and provides you an entire makeup look, or series of looks, in one palette of eyeshadow, blush, highlighter, lip color, and eyeliner and lip liner, as part of the package — this is a smart conceptan excellent makeup subscription service.
Not only do subscribers receive a new ‘look’ or possibilities of looks, to play withevery two-months, but they have the choice to skip a month, if they don’t like the palette. If you don’t like it, you skip and don’t pay anything.
The only downside for some people, is remembering to click into the email or visit the site and skip a palette, if you wish. But actually, June’s palette is pretty awesome too. This makeup palette’s from April and contains “exotic . . . Bora Bora hues.”
The other neat thing about this subscription is the makeup tutorials provided by the bloggers who joined up to create these high-quality and on-trend looks for subscribers bi-monthly. The tutorials are what hooked me, I couldn’t get the same look with what I had at home.
The quality of The Deck of Scarlett Palette’s is what will keep me purchasing makeup palette’s every two months, should most of the palette colors be ones that I can use; and should the tutorials remain relevant to me.
Also, if your vacationing somewhere, this is the perfect low-maintenance and space-saving makeup palette to bring with you for an easy everyday and evening look all in one. Add some mascara, CC cream, and concealer and your set.
Eyeshadows (on top) – Starry Eyed, Bora Bora, and Bronzed.
Highlighter/Eyeshadow – Roxstar
Blush – Lovesick
If you want a bit more makeup or your skin tone is more fair, black eyeliner to tight-line on your upper water-line, and a bit of pink-lipstick and (or) gloss, to mix with either lip shape provide is great.
Lip colors– Smooch and Swept Away
P.S. This isn’t a paid promotion, I just love the Deck of Scarlet palettes. They are seriously amazing!
Here’s few favorite tutorials for April’s Deck of Scarlet Makeup Palette 🙂
1. By @Kristinaxmakeup on Instagram – Look 1 (This One Had Me Hooked!).
For NaPoWriMo Day 27 the Prompt is: “to pick a card (any card) from this online guide to the tarot, and then to write a poem inspired either by the card or by the images or ideas that are associated with it.” I’m combining this prompt with MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Music Challenge #25, “Man Eater,” sung by Nelly Furtado.
“The sun shines in the zenith, and beneath is a great winged figure with arms extended, pouring down influences. In the foreground are two human figures, male and female, unveiled before each other, as if Adam and Eve when they first occupied the paradise of the earthly body. Behind the man is the Tree of Life, bearing twelve fruits, and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil is behind the woman; the serpent is twining round it. The figures suggest youth, virginity, innocence and love before it is contaminated by gross material desire. This is in all simplicity the card of human love, here exhibited as part of the way, the truth and the life. It replaces, by recourse to first principles, the old card of marriage, which I have described previously, and the later follies which depicted man between vice and virtue. In a very high sense, the card is a mystery of the Covenant and Sabbath.
The suggestion in respect of the woman is that she signifies that attraction towards the sensitive life which carries within it the idea of the Fall of Man, but she is rather the working of a Secret Law of Providence than a willing and conscious temptress. It is through her imputed lapse that man shall arise ultimately, and only by her can he complete himself. The card is therefore in its way another intimation concerning the great mystery of womanhood. The old meanings fall to pieces of necessity with the old pictures, but even as interpretations of the latter, some of them were of the order of commonplace and others were false in symbolism.” — Sacred-Texts.com
“Maneater ” by Nelly Furtado
She tips her head long curls flying,
Owning the floor with each sway and dip;
Her eyes gleam light and pale-blue sight;
You’ll never understand — this seductress saved your life.
She completes your being as she sings off-key,
And her body entices, teasing your thoughts —
Down trails of searing delight.
She’s a maneater stealing your breath,
She’ll make you sweat hard, make your fists clench;
Biting her lip before she sips vodka-neat.
The tan of her skin speaks of wandering,
Of foreign cities where she was a siren calling.
She’s a maneater whose perfected her skills;
She’s completion and desire,
Her skin glowing in moonlight.
She’s the comfort in your heart, and she’s only yours.
She’s a maneater, and you fell hard for her love,
When her lips, and her hips — her generous heart’s core,
Caught yours and clasped on in a vise.
Now, your sipping your beer as she puts on a show,
Practised dance-steps enthralling you still.
Lifting her hair, mahogany thick,
Heated stare all consuming;
As her dewy skin melts makeup’s glamour,
Revealing the girl beneath her eyeliner.
She’s a tiger-woman laughing with her friends;
As they twirl and spin, wide smiles, toothy-grins.
So here is the fist bag of my new beauty bag subscription from Ipsy.com. The price is right and I received 5 great items and a case. It costs about $15.00 CAN/month and less in the U.S. for about $11.00/month. If you’re interested, here’s the sign up link:HERE.
You can see what I received below:
A gorgeous little butterfly case, designed, and cute for many uses, makeup and beyond.
MudMasky: Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask: pH-balanced, pore-refining, hydrating, Anti-aging, brightening, and smoothing. Natural, Paraben Free, Not Tested on Animals — (www.mudmasky.com). -15 ml/0.5 mL sample
A wonderful little mask that, so far, has been great for my skin. It smells nice and leaves skin feeling smooth and brighter, as promised.
IMEECH and MIA: Eyeshadow in COPPER (meechnmia.com) Sample Size.
This shadow has nice pigment. It’s quite sparkly, but a bit too orange for my skin. Nonetheless, a nice eyeshadow product.
Great liquid black eyeliner is hard to find. I’ve tried Ciate nailpolish before, but never any makeup. This liner isn’t waterproof, which is my only concern. Nevertheless, it has stayed on well, with awesome pigmented liquid colour, and a felt-tip good for fine or thicker lines.
Trust Fund Beauty: That Liquid Glo Tho – Liquid Highlighter (www.trustfunbeauty.com) – 8 ml/0.27 Fl Oz. – Vegan, Free from Harmful Toxins, Cruelty Free, Ethical and Beautiful – Large Sample Size.
Probably the product I was most looking forward to, but was disappointed. Maybe it was because this liquid highlighter doesn’t blend well with foundation underneath? Or, that the goldish-pink colour is too pale for my skin?
I was hoping to use this as a daily highlighter for a natural glow, or to mix with foundation, but so far, not much luck. I’ll keep trying. I love the packaging, the colour, the brands ethical standards, and product ingredients. But I wish this highlighter was more pigmented and had a better gleam. So far, it barely shows up.
Lastly, I received a concealer makeup brush. It’s a cheaper brush, to me. The quality that other brushes of the same worth have, isn’t there. However, it’s a good brush to apply powder highlighter on your cheeks, nose, and brow bone.
I don’t think it would stand up well as a concealer brush, due to concealer usually being a wet product, and the bristles of this brush coming out to start. But overall, a great bonus item for the April bag.
For Day 4 of NaPoWriMo the prompt is: “to write a poem that is about something abstract – perhaps an ideal like “beauty” or “justice,” but which discusses or describes that abstraction in the form of relentlessly concrete nouns. Adjectives are fine too!
So, a couple of days ago I received my SpringLuxebox. I haven’t been overly pleased with them. When you receive four a year, it’s important that each one is full of stuff you can use, yourself. I’ve had too many products that don’t suit my skin-tone. Also, products a few products that were repeats.
This never used to be the case with Luxebox, so I’ve cancelled. I’m going to try Ipsybag for a while, starting in April. Also, from the research I did, it’s rated better than many other monthly or seasonal boxes.
Anyways, here’s what I received for Luxebox Spring 2018:
1. China Glaze Nail Lacquer with Hardeners – Worth $14.00/14 mL – Color is Orangy-Brown with Shimmer — I gave this to my Mom, it suits her Autumn skin-tone well.
2. LARITZY Cosmetics Eye Pencil (Laritzy.com) – Worth $18.00/1g (pencil) – White Shimmer — It’s a hard pencil, but a pretty color for tight lining on your bottom lid, and the corner of your eye, if you can soften it enough. So far, not much luck.
3. The Beauty Crop: GRLPWR Liquid Lipstick (@thebeautycrop) — Worth $10.00/14 mL – Deep Burgundy Red — This color was also quite brown. The photo is misleading. I gave it to a girl my Mom works with; it suits her skin-tone much better.
4. MANNAKADAR Beauty: Lash Extending Primer – $24.00/8g – White like most lash primers.
I’ve never found one I like, but I will give this a try as the formula includes proteins to strengthen hair follicles and moisturize your lashes. Sounds good to me 🙂
5. Voesh New York: Pedicure in a Box — Green Tea Pedicure – 3 pouches in a box — I’ve never tried this, but I’m excited too. One great item at least!
6. Professional Sebastian Shaper Plus Extra Hold Hairspray — 1.5 oz for Travel size.
The full-size is about $20.00 CAN at the Drugstore. I’ve tried it before and I like it a lot. The price is right, a full-sized spray bottle lasts a long time, and it’s hairspray you can brush out at night or if you’ve over sprayed. Two good items 🙂
7. Delectable Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream: Sweet Mint Cream — With Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Ana Aloe Vera – $6.00/6 mL
Again, not a bad item unless coconut isn’t your favorite scent. I’m not a huge fan. Nevertheless, hand cream is useful, and a great gift, as this is a full-sized product. It works fantastic too. My complaint is that I’ve received this almost exact same product in four different boxes.
Goodmorning, welcome to PART II of my Fall/Winter Beauty Haul Series. I usually do Beauty Haul’s quarterly (I missed summer) so I have many new things to rate and show you for Fall and Winter, although some of the products I used in spring and summer.
Also, some of the products are ones I have bought while some of them are larger samples I have received through Sephora or through Luxebox. The makeup I buy and spend more money on, I do use up unless the product is absolutely horrible and usually, you can tell this right away and can return the product.
For this Urban Decay foundation, the Ultra Definition Liquid Foundation, I was not at all impressed. If you’re looking for an excellent Urban Decay foundation, the All Nighter Foundation is so much better! However, for those of who want a light foundation that’s buildable and has properties of optical blurring, so your face looks natural but free of blemishes (etc.) in photographs, this might be the foundation for you.
You can build this foundation up and it appears decent but I didn’t find it had much coverage at all even after a couple of layers. My IT Cosmetics CC + Cream has better coverage. I also didn’t like that this foundation was a different color than the All Nighter Foundation even though it’s the same shade of 0.5. This Weightless foundation has yellow undertones and the next shade was too dark for me, even with pink undertones.
As well, this foundation is extremely liquid and I prefer one with a bit more of a gel or cream texture, not extremely heavy, but not running off the top your hand where you might apply the foundation from. Stick to the All Nighter foundation for Urban Decay and I do believe they also carry a medium-coverage one now that I haven’t tried. You can also find a better light coverage foundation in many brands so don’t invest your money in this one. I’m mixing it with my CC + Cream simply to use it up and not waste the fifty dollars. I’d give this foundation 2/5 stars.
Initially, I received a sample of this Buxom Full-On Lip Cream from Sephora and I absolutely loved it and wore it every day. It’s free of Parabens, Sulphates, and Phthalates and is full of moisturizing “hyaluronic (HA) spheres” which are acids that keep your skin looking youthful. These HA spheres “infuse lips with luscious moisture while vitamins A and E keep lips soft, sexy, and protected” and you can find this lip cream in fourteen bright, but not overpowering shades.
I’m a huge fan of this Buxom lip product, especially in the shade I received, Julep, which isa natural lip shade and made my lips red-peachy/pink, but didn’t look as if I was wearing a ton of lip product.
My only complaint is that you do have to apply this lip cream often as it wears off easily. But the flavor is pleasant and the lip cream so hydrating that it doesn’t diminish the value of the product a great deal me. I’d give it 4/5 stars.
3. NYX Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray – NYXcostmetics.ca – $10.00 CAN
I used to use the NYX Matte setting spray so I decided to try their Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray so my makeup appeared more light and fresh for every day. Having radiant skin has also been a recent makeup trend, especially in summer and early fall. I love this NYX Setting spray and rarely use the matte spray now as my skin is not as oily as it used to be. I would say my skin is a great deal more dry than oily now.
Also, this setting spray is perfect and as good the Urban Decay original setting sprays. I buy the NYX Dewy at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada and it costs $11.99 full price, but I can usually get it for $8.99 CAN on-sale. As you can see the price online is right in-between.
I’m so impressed with the NYX setting sprays. They are professional quality, in my opinion, and have virtually eliminated the need for me to watch that my makeup doesn’t run when I sweat a bit. It also doesn’t rub off on coats or on others when I’m giving them a hug. For that reason, it’s an awesome product alone.
You can apply the Dewy setting spray lightly or more if you’re out all night. I never find the spray dries out my skin. It also helps keep your makeup looking amazing all day and is still flexible enough that you can touch up your blush or under your eyes, if needed at the end of the day. I’d give it 5/5 stars.
So many bloggers and beauty experts have raved about this mascara, The Benefit Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara, and I wanted to try it for myself. Luckily, I’ve received about three mini-sized samples of it since summer and this mascara goes a long way, especially if you’re using it with other mascaras. It doesn’t come in a waterproof formula, which is its only downside, but I don’t mind because this mascara works to lengthen and curl your lashes; it’s not for volume.
This means, I can use it with any waterproof volumizing mascara I like. I love the Roller Lash mascara wand as it actually does cause your eyelashes to curl up and it is also useful in coating every single lash you have, even the small ones in the corners of your eyes.
You can wear it alone for a more natural eyelash look and it comes in black and brown. Or, like me, you can use it with another mascara, or two, to create your perfect long and volumized lash look.
My current favorite, for a long time has been Clinique’s High Impact Waterproof Mascara, which also is a jewel of a mascara and creates loads of volume while being waterproof. Otherwise, regular mascara comes off onto my under eye areas.
I would purchase a tube of Roller Lash mascara and think the price-point is in keeping with the Benefit brand and not too expensive for a mascara. I would give it 4/5 stars, only because I think they need to introduce it in a waterproof version for days people would like a more natural lash look but don’t want it all over their under eye area.
I’m a huge fan of Tarte makeup, their products are Vegan, mineral, good for you skin, for the environment, and cruelty-free. They also have excellent pigment. I received a large sample of this highlighter with a Sephora purchase and I love it. I’m not usually a huge fan of cream highlighters as for me, they fade quickly.
Tarteist PRO-Glow in Exposed had good lasting coverage and you can put a bit of highlighting powder overtop of it to make it last and to enhance the highlighter. As well, I loved it during summer as the shade Exposed was light and subtle and perfect for a peachy barely-there makeup look. A little of this product goes a long way as it does wear off after a few hours, but compared to many liquid highlighters it’s longlasting and is truly beautiful on your skin.
I liked the shade I had a lot but you can also buy it in the shades Sparkle -Rose Gold and Opalescent. Tarte only had the one shade available all summer so it would be fun to try the other shades as well.
Plus, if you put setting spray over this, it does make this Tarte cream highlighter last longer. And again, I did think for the type of product and its longevity, that it was worth what you would pay for it. I would give it 5/5 stars.
I had gotten a special Sephora promo code in the summer and the box was full of large samples of Dandelion Benefit products, along with the Roller Lash Mascara. My favorite product other than the mascara was the Dandelion Dew Baby Pink Liquid Blush.
Benefit has always led the way in liquid blushes, but this is better than their cheek and lip stains as it’s creamier. Also, it’s a great product to use for a natural makeup look, in summer or on vacation, as it gives your cheeks a natural but visible flush. Also, the liquid isn’t too heavy. It’s also peachy-pink enough to suit many skin tones and has “radiance” so it gives your cheeks a nice dewy finish.
Moreover, if your skin is oilier it’s not a heavy product so it’s not going to make you break-out. I’ve found most Benefit products are excellent for those who have skin problems and for anyone else.
I love love this blush but will wait until spring and summer to purchase a full bottle, as I’m more likely to use it then. The powder is also available it’s called Dandelion Box o’Powder Blush and I did have a sample of it. It’s not great to wear alone but can enhance how long the liquid blush lasts. Also, you can buy the Dandelion Twinkle Highlighter, which is nice for a subtle highlighting powder.
You do have to put a decent amount product on to be able to see the liquid blush on your skin but not a great deal. A large sample lasted me almost two months so I think a regular-sized bottle would last half a year or a bit less. If you like natural looking makeup all year long, this is the liquid blush to purchase. I would give this product 4.5/5 stars, I loved it!
7. Urban Decay Brow Tamer Flexible Hold Tinted Brow Gel – Sephora.ca – (0.15 oz/ 4.44 ml) – (Neutral Brown) – $24.00 CAN
I don’t love this Urban Decay Brow Tamer Tinted Brow Gel, but I don’t hate it. It’s not as good as the tinted brow gel from Benefit, but apparently, they had an issue and had to pull all of that particular brow gel from the shelves due to allergic reactions from customers. A girl from Sephora told me this a few weeks ago. So, when I ordered Brow Tamer online in early-November, I couldn’t find many brow gels on Sephora as most of them were sold out after their 20 percent off sale.
This was about one of the only tinted brow gels left and I like it but I wouldn’t repurchase it. For a neutral brown, the brown I chose is too red for my hair and skin tone. It’s not bad if I mix it with an ashy brow pencil, but alone it’s not good. As well, the lighter shade called Taupe, which is ashier, was too light for my brows as even though I’m blue-eyed and blond with fair skin, my brows have always been darker.
The wand was nice for applying the Brow Tamer gel and it’s lasted about two and half months now which is great for a brow gel. I would recommend you try this but ensure you find the right shade in-store first as sometimes the colors online don’t match up exactly with the ones in-store. They can look quite different in person.
I would give this brow gel 3.5/5 stars and I’m going to use it all as it’s a good product and priced well compared to other brow gels. However, it didn’t give me the volumizing effect of the Benefit BROWtones Instant Color Highlights, which are available again on Sephora but not in my shade of light ash or ash brown. Perhaps, Benefit changed this product? I’m not sure.
The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop was a product I bought in summer as a treat and loved it. I only bought a mini and it lasted me three months. Sephora doesn’t have Champagne Pop in the mini-size right now but they do have the full-size which is a better value for your money — in most cases.
I loved this color, it’s a “soft white gold with pink-peach undertones” that can be used as a highlighter and as an eyeshadow. I love it because the pigment is awesome and it was a beautiful color to wear for a nude or natural look. I enjoyed the shimmer and glossiness of the Becca highlighter and can’t recommend it enough. I would like to try some other Becca highlighter shades in the future.
I should note that I went in-store and tried out tens of highlighters in the summer, attempting to find the perfect peachy color for me and Champagne Pop was it. I bought it online (it was out-of-stock in-store) and was so happy with the purchase.
Again, if your unsure about a Becca highlighter color, visit Sephora in-store first and try out the colors in store. I prefer buying online because of the greater range of sample makeup and skin care products available and because of the coupon codes I receive by email for larger samples. Becca highlighters are amazing stuff, and perfect for a non-heavy and dewy makeup look.
For the large-size, or even the smaller-size, it’s not a cheap highlighter but when I was trying out all these highlighters in Sephora I found that often, the more expensive highlighters had much better pigment. Theyalsolasted a great deal longer on your face throughout the day. I would give it 4.5./5 stars as it is still a tad expensive, even though the pigment is excellent.
STAY TUNED for PART III. I Promise, it won’t take as long as PART II did!!
