Awash with gray, sea roaring,

Lone figure misunderstanding,

Nature mimicking a downcast mood.

—–

Crashing cymbals against the shoreline,

Warm red coat,

Brilliant cherry against the dim.

—–

Cocoon cozy thaws ice inside,

No longer threatening,

Waves soften, gentle hope blossoms.

It was a fine meal until Mark threw his cutlery down shouting,”I’ve had enough.” I didn’t know what he meant and didn’t think we had marriage problems as we had a date night each week, talked in the mornings and evenings, and throughout text messages all day. We’d been married ten years and my eyes teared up at Mark’s unexpected outburst; he brushed a tear from my cheek and whispered, “I’m not done with you silly, just your cooking.”

We leave at dawn, the horses saddled and well rested. The gleaming morning light shines upon us and I feel blissful, as if there’s certain hope that wherever we end up it’s going to be providential; it’ll be a land with milk and honey. There has to be a divine reason we were forced to leave our home, why our friends and neighbors burned it to the ground, and why we must rebuild are life in obscurity; God would not dessert us now amidst the endless wilderness, would He?

Whitney’s mane is downy faun combed smooth. Her coat is the softest chestnut against my skin and I pull my sore body onto her saddle; I bury my hands in the warmth of her coat. Whitney let’s out a slight whinny instantly recognizing my scent as I rub my face in her mane and scratch her ears; I dig my knees into her sides and she leaps forward, continuing the journey to nowhere.

Ahead by a Century” by The Tragically Hip

——

Climbing the tree, talking, sitting before we were silent,

Illusions of tomorrow’s casting flames of gold resilient.

Silent sitting dragging you here into my darkest night.

I could be wrong, maybe I lied, the fissure more widens,

What if we’re wrong, if we’re an endless song, without brilliance?

Silent, we’re sitting alone, no dress rehearsal for life.

Hornet’s toxin seething, luring us to the siren’s light.

Wrongly fleeing, ten thousand cars, roads; leaving, taking flight.

#NovemberNotes Day 12/Saturday Mix: Poem – Rondeau – “We Don’t Stand A Chance” #amwriting #poetry

November Notes Day 12 Prompt song is by Sam Smith and called “To Good At Goodbyes.” For this Prompt combo I will combine the song Prompt with Sarah from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix Prompt on homophones. For this week the homophones include bolder – more courageous and boulderlarge rock; and two of, flew – past tense of fly, flu – short for influenza, and flue – chimney pipe.

Too Good At Goodbyes” by Sam Smith

——

I’m never gonna let you near my heart,

I’ll let you subsist in-between the bars;

Where we’re both near, yet feeling the flu, starved.

Not letting you close, though you mean the most,

I’m brokenness, you’ll never get closer.

Opening up is like chocking on barbs.

I’m not someone bolder, willing to fall hard,

Your here, but I see clear, we’re the departed.

Not letting you close, though you mean the most,

Chained to a boulder we don’t stand a chance.

A simple sincere truth, I’m good at parting,

Every time I hurt you, you hurt me too; dark —

Eyes forgetting, when we weren’t sickly ghosts,

Not seeing, together we flew the most.

Not letting you close, my tears fall imparting,

Chained to a boulder we don’t stand a chance.

What About Us” – P!nk

—–

Searchlights in dimness,

Stars gleaming pixies.

Billions of beautiful hearts,

Thumping strong;

What about us?

No happily ever after.

Riddled with problems,

No reconfiguring.

We are but children,

Crying for love.

Flames hovering,

In darkness;

Why must we maintain —

Rock hard control?

Let’s be free,

To let go.

There’s no us anymore.

Wise Enough” by Lamb

—–

I dreamt time was running wild and bleeding out quick.

Comets falling from the sky, I had such grave nightmares.

Waking up I saw, how precious is the time we have here,

I realized no one here is wise enough to give all they are.

——

Comets falling for the sky, I had such grave nightmares.

Are we bright enough to outshine celestial starlight,

I realized no one here is wise enough to give all they are.

In each of us, is someone we don’t know, who is too lost.

——-

Are we bright enough to outshine celestial starlight,

We have multiple chances times to make a small difference,

In each of us, is someone we don’t know, who is too lost.

You’re real, no one else has your world role, your unique gifts.

——

We have multiple chances, times to make a small difference,

Frightened of the dawn, I brush stardust from my blurry eyes.

You’re real, no on else has your world role, your unique gifts.

Desist wasting time, letting years pass abandoned.

—–

Frightened of the dawn, I brush stardust from my blurry eyes,

What is our purpose here? Stop killing our time dear.

Desist wasting time, letting years pass abandoned,

In our power is changing the world ’til our dying day.

—–

What is our purpose here? Stop killing our time dear,

Waking up I saw how precious is the time we have here.

In our power is changing the world ’til our dying day,

I dreamt time was running wild and bleeding out quick.

Pantoum Poetry Form:

The design is simple:

Line 1

Line 2

Line 3

Line 4

Line 5 (repeat of line 2)

Line 6

Line 7 (repeat of line 4)

Line 8

Continue with as many stanzas as you wish, but the ending stanzathen repeats the second and fourth lines of the previous stanza (as its first and third lines), and also repeats the third line of the first stanza, as its second line, and the first line of the first stanza as its fourth. So the first line of the poem is also the last.

Last stanza:

Line 2 of previous stanza

Line 3 of first stanza

Line 4 of previous stanza

Line 1 of first stanza

#NovemberNotes Day 9/Saturday Mix: Poem – Shadorma – “Be a Riser” #amwriting #poetry #hope #saturdaymix

For November Notes the Day 9 song is called ” 1-800 – 273 – 8255″ Logic featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid. I reversed the songs for Day 8 and Day 9 so Day 9’s actual song was completed yesterday. As per usual combining prompts with Sarah from MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix Prompt of a shadorma form poem about emotion.

“The Shadorma is a Spanish poetic form made up of a stanza of six lines

(sestet)  with no set rhyme scheme.

It is a syllabic poem with a meter of 3/5/3/3/7/5.

It can have many stanzas, as long as each follows the meter” (Popular Poetry Forms).

You’re on the —

Low of life that’s fine,

Just take time,

Realize —

No one can see the future,

Sit down, stay awhile.

—-

Take your time,

Value the time you have,

So your low,

Many more —

Are deeper in dirt than you,

So, rise another day.

——

If you’re here,

You matter a lot,

Building life —

Takes much time,

Nothing is perfect, it hurts,

Rise to the challenge.

—-

You don’t want —

To be alive but —

You don’t know,

What it is

Truly breathing free, inhaling —

Life is tough, rise up.

——

Find your help —

Seek out others to —

Stop the thoughts;

Those anxious,

Murmurs insecure and bleak,

Rise you are not weak.

—–

Emotion’s bleed,

Guy or girl life hurts.

Healing is —

A process.

Don’t quit, don’t give in; fight on —

Sun always rises.

——

Your life is —

Precious but, —

You hear what you feel;

Alone with —

No hope or —

Reason to survive, find faith —

God cares, she cares, rise.

—–

You matter,

You’ll see put down your —

Weapon, don’t inflict —

Dying wounds.

Breath, seek help,

There are phones beyond no home,

Let her in and rise.

——

She wants you —

To feel the light’s glare,

Sunshine with,

Delightful —

Rays of hope; fight on, don’t end —

Your life, rise up, swim.

—–

You don’t want —

To try anymore,

But there’s her,

Heart beating —

Next to yours, so hope, believe,

Rise for tomorrow’s.

—–

Tomorrow,

Never dies, the —

Words are true.

Life is yours,

Your legs tremble so walk on,

Rise, you’re valuable.

—–

Innately you;

Irreplaceable.

If you left,

Her heart would —

Shatter; others too would wonder,

Why such promise fell.

—-

Let them in,

They can’t see inside,

Thoughts rolling,

So fast, get —

Their attention, ask ’til —

Taking their hands you rise.

—-

You want life,

You choose it crying,

Not easy —

To admit,

You want to be alive, not dead,

Rise up, live well.
