#OctPoWriMo Day 13/Three Line Tales: Poem – Lunes – “Little Pieces” #amwriting #poetry #3LineTales

For OctPoWriMo Day 13 the theme is art or creativity and metal health. I’m combining it with #3LineTales from the Prompt by Sonya of Only 100 Words

———

Gazing at me, you say —

“Your mind’s broken.”

You can’t see channels leading,

—–

Art, and creativity, imagination flinging,

Paint onto canvas,

Words curling into life’s sadness.

—-

Intelligence that shattered glass ceilings,

Reaching, now we’re,

Little pieces, glued together vividly.

Good job linking the three words together for your nice poem. It would be a challenge to put art and mental health together in a poem. Nicely done.

Thanks Miriam, not as hard as you would think. The funny thing about people who suffer from mental illnesses is that many of them are quite creative and talented in whatever area of the arts. Many are very smart too. I guess to much of a good thing?
Thanks and have a lovely weekend my friend 😊

I used to work with someone who was hospitalized for schizophrenia and recovered. He was painting during inpatient stay. He showed me all the paintings. The initial ones had more bright orange colors and the objects looked like the cat had an electric shock with all the hair flying. As he was recovering, the colors were more realistic and the flying hair of the ‘cat’ got less and less zigzag. It was an eye opening for me to see what went on in his mind through his paintings! Have a wonderful weekend, Mandi!

That’s a very neat. Interesting how the paintings changed like that. I’m happy he recovered.
        You as well!

I really like this. As a person who lives with mental illness, often the only aspect of mine that people focus on is “your mind’s broken.” They don’t seem to see anything else of me.

Hi Cara, thanks for stopping by. I also have mental health difficulties and I agree people don’t always see beyond our problems and that many people with mental illness are incredibly gifted in the creative areas and are extremely intelligent in many cases. In this poem in this poem, I was trying to show this disconnect. Glad you liked.

I’m so happy you embraced the creativity and the mental health suggestions for today’s poem! I, too, live with mental illness and I’ve been learning to talk about it as freely and honestly as I do my creative pursuits. Your voice touched me today. Thank you.
