She valued it,

Above all.

Elaborate China,

Not pretty or delicate.

Gaudy-patterned,

Indigo Wedgewood.

Peach, gray flowers.

Frail bone China,

No value to him.

Displayed in a cabinet.

Pieces and —

Place settings,

Gifted for —

Wedding presents.

She dusted them,

Each week.

Paid him no mind,

Humming hymns.

Ignored him when,

He talked.

She never used to,

She’d laugh,

Join in.

And when they,

Used the China,

At Easter,

Designs of indigo, peach —

Made him sick.

Dizzying, he wanted to —

Wretch.

Just as when ,

He saw her,

With him.

The one she said,

She’d forgotten.

Accepted he’d married,

Moved on.

But his aftershave,

On her skin,

Made him ill,

So he stood,

Starring at the China,

She’d taken out,

To clean.

Piece by piece,

It hit the wall,

Smashing, crashing.

Splinters of it,

Drawing blood.

Until shards of,

Tacky dinnerware,

Only remained.

She screamed,

Wounded like a fledging,

Who fell,

For the first time,

And couldn’t arise,

Never again,

Wings broken.

Yes, spot on. Or he suddenly realizes she cares more for this China, then she ever did for him. She never got over her old lover. Thanks Michnavs 🙂

Thanks Daisy. It’s a prompt picture and indeed an elaborate design for China 🙂

Certain writers hold prompts, things to give a person ideas about what to write about. Often a picture is provided and that helps to give each person various ideas about what they would personally like to write about, affected by that picture. This was a flash fiction challenge — supposed to be written in 100 words using the picture for guidance. I think I chose a poem this time which is fine as long as it fits in 100 words. Flash Fiction is called “flash” b/c it’s usually a fictional story told in few words 500 to 50 or even 25. But most are around 200 words. There is a way for all writers in this challenge to post their story on a link where everyone else has posted their take of the picture prompt. Then u can go through and read what other bloggers wrote and it’s interesting to see how other writers and bloggers interpret a prompt, in this case a picture. Commenting on others posts, say for certain prompts, is a great way to meet other bloggers and find other blogs where the writing style interests you. I hope that makes it clearer.

He was left feeling undervalued and you can only treat a person like that for so long before they have enough of it!! Thank you for joining us in Week 29 of 100 Word Wednesdays 🙂
