100 Word Wednesday: Poem -Free Verse – “He Flew” #amwriting #poetry #100WordWednesday

Doing tricks,

On his skateboard,

Young boy.

On banana board,

Travelling fast,

Down paved roads.

Swerving before cars,

Smashed him.

On the Merry-Go-Round,

Flying off,

Into the afternoon sun.

On ground,

Never crying.

More stitches;

He didn’t mind.

Flipping, turning,

Off half-pipes.

Black diamond hills,

Rushing towards.

Bright-white powdered snow.

Matress softening,

Terrible falls.

Breaking legs,

Collar bone, arms.

On his bike,

At the skateboard park,

Flying as a new robin.

Wings wavering,

Into unforgiving air.

Didn’t care if he,

Landed on his head.

Some awful,

Even with a helmet.

Bruises deep purple,

Fractures, sprains —

All painful.

Wherever he went,

Whatever he did,

He flew.

No one ever,

Expected him,

Not to.

He should’ve been,

Born with wings,

But he wasn’t.

He flew,

Just the same.

My usually very planned schedule has gone off-kilter for this summer!! I’m focusing on my family and working in the rest when I can. Thank you for your kindness 💕

Amanda, a wonderful poem. He certainly did fly, all without wings. Here’s to the daredevil in all of us. Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday. ~ Mia

Hi Mia. Thanks for stopping by and very happy you enjoyed the poem. Some people are just not afraid and acceptance of pain and injuries just happens even though they hurt. In one sense so admire these daredevils greatly. On the other, I’m afraid how much they’ll hurt in their elderly years. I guess you just focus on the present. Cheers I have a couple of your pieces to get to of yours. Enjoy your week 🙂

Amanda, you’re very welcome. I admire people like this too, they just go for it. I think I’m a little too cautious. Thank you, enjoy your week too. 🙂
