Today’s NaPoWriMo challenge is a nine line poem of any form. For A to Z Challenge were looking for a GoidReads quote beginning with the letter H (first or last name) and the picture below comes from Bikurgurl for #100WordWednesday.

I can’t say what my first thought was as I sunk below the surface, because it was mostly a string of four-letter words” —Rachel Hawkins

——-

I’ve always been scared to swim in lakes,

Who knows, what’s creeping below?

Something skims my leg, I shriek loudly.

Yet I wonder if I’m feeling fish,

Or if I’m imagining some creature,

Whose bite, takes me below the surface.

Then I’m struggling, lunging for air,

If only I can make it towards —

Luminious eternity shocks.

Thank you SingleDust. I know what you mean, even lakes can be scary. This picture made me think of some sea monster 🙂

That is true unfortunately ( and fortunately for horror writers lol) Yet I’ve watched Jaws so many times I have them memorized lol. Have a good week 🙂

Haha you are right. I love the Jurassic Park and Juris World movies too — even worse giant dinosaurs in the water!

Oooh, I love how this poem ebbs and flows just like the water in its content. The ocean still has mysteries we haven’t solved yet 😉

I used to worry about swimming in lakes, but at the end of the day I don’t even like swimming 😉 It’s not the fishes, it’s the algae in the water…against my skin….

Yeah that is gross. I don’t do it because my skin is usually allergic to something in lake water, I tend to get some kind of rash or hives. Chlorine pools are even worse though. Salt water is fine 🙂 Thanks for reading

Well I mean like just are regular public pools are saltwater. They don’t really feel different just no chlorine reaction. However, there are mineral pools with salt where you just float. Those are very cool unless you stick your head under, then your eyes burn. After, you really have to shower off b/c you are covered in minerals. One in Saskatchewan in Canada is actually a lake but they have a heated pool/hot tub near by. I think the Dead Sea would be similar in Jordan in the Middle East. 🙂
