Flash Fiction for the Aspiring Writer: When The Player Is Played #flashfiction #amwriting #fiction

These dreary sky’s didn’t feel like Christmas to Kayden. Nor did the nameless woman beside him, a snake tattoo climbing her back through a leering skull.

The girl moaned, waking up and briefly flashing Kayden with light blue-eyes and her chest, where tattoos of thorns and brambles wandered. She smirked when she saw Kayden’s face:

“Haven’t been with a girl with tattoos like me before, have you?”

Kaydeen felt no need to answer and she laughed,”That’s fine. So we’re clear, I was drunk and using you for sex and not the other way around.” He chuckled and was about to talk when she shushed him.

“This is my apartment and in ten-minutes, you need to be gone,” the girl mumbled pressing her head into her pillow sleepily.

Kayden wanted to protest but she was already asleep.

A Merry Christmas to him indeed.

Not the Christmas morning Kayden wanted, it seems. I feel for him — but then, maybe he should have thought it through more clearly on Christmas eve! 🙂

Lets just say, he’s usually the one kicking some girl out and dong exactly what’s been done to him. This girl knows exactly what kind of guy he is, and isn’t going to play hostess. Thanks for commenting Joy.

I like the way you worked the prompt into the story. Felt a bit sorry for Kayden, but if he does this sort of thing himself, then he got what he deserves! Nice take Mandi 🙂

Thank you Ian. Yes he most definitely does this kind of thing often. I was going to talk about it, had written a few sentences, but it worked better without them for flash fiction. As it is Christmas, you do feel sorry for him and probably I think there is a reason he’s getting hammered at a bar on Christmas Eve, and not with friends/family.

LOL! I think he might be thinking, “What in the heck did I do last night?” Hahaha! Wonderful story, Mandi! It seems he finally gets what he deserves.

Thank you PJ. Yes he is very much thinking how did I end up here. I think he is very much the guy to take home pretty girls, thrilled to be with him, but then he kicks them out right away as fast as he can in the morning. In this occasion he gets his just deserts.

Yes! What goes around, comes around! Now he knows how it feels…not that it will change him in any way.

You never know. It might make him think Or like you say maybe not. I get the feeling he’s running from stuff in his life, his family, maybe past hurt, it’s why he gets so drunk and sleeps around. Will he change? Who knows. Thanks Jessie. Merry Christmas!

I liked the way you linked her tattoos with the prompt! And good for Kayden to know how it feels 😀

Thanks Dahlia. There are some gorgeous tattoos out there and she had many. It is great for Kayden to receive his ‘just deserts.’ Will it make him think more often about his behaviour? Confront a past, such as the reason he’s not with his family on Christmas, or what made him decide to treat women this way? Who knows.
