Tale Weavers Challenge: Poem – Lunes –  “Talismans or Superstitions?” #taleweavers #amwriting #poetry

Thanks to MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie forhosting this week’s prompt on Talisemans:

” Talisman weave stories of our hopes, our fears, our dreams, our pasts, and our futures. Weave a tale about a talisman – perhaps one of yours, and let us into the sometime secret worlds talismans represent and protect.”

Tale Weavers

——-

Tale Weavers

——

It’s not an exciting story,

It’s not a —

Huge secret, I’ve few talismans.

—–

Save a cross, if one —

Would call crosses,

Talismans; but I’m not superstitious.

—–

When the dead are gone,

They’re good and —

Gone; to another place sent.

—-

Perhaps there exists wandering ghosts,

Lost wailing spirits,

But maybe, they’re demons deceitful.

—-

There’s no inbetween, no purgatory,

No nothingness, only —

Eternal life or eternal death.

—-

I don’t consider much is —

Coincidence or luck,

Mostly, there are miracles –hope.

—–

Prayer is beyond this realm,

Something spirititual; ethereal,

Unexplained, mysterious, but for faith.

—-

Yet, I think superstition is —

A human creation,

If we cannot explain something,

—–

Make up stories, so we’ll

All feel better,

When logically truth is quite clear.

——

A conundrum itself,

Faith mixed with,

Reason explaining what we fear.

#OctPoWriMo – Day 7 – Rondel – “The Chocolate Death” #amwriting #poetry #chocolate

Day 7 Prompt: Tasty

“Free write for ten minutes around the word tasty, try some word association, where does it lead – To a memory as a child with the first bite to your favorite food? To a moment when you cooked your first meal? Dig deep and allow your words to flow.”

——–

Delicacies on my lips land,

Smoothly sumptuous ambrosia.

Chocolate soft inside so rich, not bland.

Sweet, dark sensuous aroma.

—-

Moist soft cake, creamy center grand.

Icing with cocoa, melts just so,

Delicacies on my lips land,

Smoothly sumptuous ambrosia.

—-

Chocolate intense taste I understand,

Crumbs of cake near mouth, eating slow.

One more bite, save for tomorrow,

Devoured, pleasure sweet, on hand.

Delicacies on my lips land.

In dress of Emerald green unfurling,

Unfurling and scampering, the forest behind

Behind her hair of onyx locks

Behind her the forest forms, her dream image

Image of imp, earthen worm silk for her gown

Image of child feet bare on the ground

Ground echoes as she pants and runs

Ground misting with fog on grey lake

Lake where the monsters swim

Lake where they slither and with trickery bid

Bid her come swim

Bid her come beneath the surface

Surface of lake reflective mirror

Surface of mind, smoke cascading from hair

Hair the metaphor of her thoughts

Hair rising with caustic smoke

Smoky, the sky is dim and grey

Smoky, her thoughts show disarray

Disarray of the mind and she scatters

Dissray of her feet on dying grass

Grass beloved in spring

Grass lush and wild around her

Her the woman, the sprit

Her the goddess –only in her mind

Mind overflowing she burns black thoughts

Mind recreates as she destroys smoke black

Black as her hair, the ravens are jealous

Black as her pupils, focused on running

Running from life, imp of nature

Running until lungs burst

Burst with her blackness inhaled

Burst with the need for fresh air

Air breathed in and out

Air the forest created

Created as she makes trees

Created to help her and us breathe

Breathe the freshest lake air

Breathe and feel free to live

Live but how?

Live but why? She’s black soot scent

Scent of tar from smoke

Scent of wildflower and rain

Rain and her dress greener still grows

Rain and her tears are diamonds

Diamond of nature stop fleeing

Diamond of nature flawed — just stand

Stand silent and inhale fresh mountain air

Stand and inhale new beginning — be still

Still as your breath and the silence gives rest

Still as your breath and the silence gives rest.

#OctPoWriMo – Day 6 – Loop Poetry – “Inclusion Not Inclusive” #amwriting #poetry

Day 5 Prompt: Tantalizing

“What do you find tantalizing? What has provoked your interest or desire recently?”

——

http://www.pinterest.com

——-

You can desire many things and believe

Believe you so require something —you need it

It’s vital to banish the emptiness

Emptiness, a deserted ghost town dreamed.

——

Maybe, it wasn’t a dream, walking through streets

Streets, with the sound of silence deafening,

Deafening as a concert attended

Attended but, among crowds you’re replete

——

Perhaps, for some of us, recognition that

That, we exist –worthy of conversations

Conversations where no one talks over us,

Us, people actually listen to and chitchat.

——

Such a tiny gift to want, people to care

Caring is scary, means we give back too

Too, we build relationships and hope

Hope we’re not hurt, overlooked, now we share.

—–

Plethora of tantalizing dreams,

Dreams we hold close and in the end desire

Desire people to love and be loved by

By loving, ensuring no one’s unseen

Loop Poetry is a poetry form created by Hellon. There are no restrictions on the number of stanzas nor on the syllable count for each line.

In each stanza, the last word of the first line becomes the first word of line two, last word of line 2 becomes the first word of line 3, last word of line 3 becomes the first word of line 4.

This is followed for each stanza. The rhyme scheme is abcb.

——

Variations:

1. Stanzas, writers choice on the number, no rhyming, the last word, first word scheme is maintained.
2. One long stanza, no limit on number of lines, no rhyming scheme, the last word, first word scheme is maintained.
3. Couplets mixed with 4 line stanzas, the last word, first word scheme is maintained in the stanzas. It can also be used in the couplets. Rhyme scheme is ab, cc, defg, hh, ii, jklm, nn, oo.
