Golden moment glows in dawns —

Warm orange hue,

Magnifcant deer, has spotted you.

First time hunter, rifle pointed,

Hunting as those,

Before your short life, caught —

By epiphany, feeling something  bigger,

The deer’s mystic —

Eyes unflinching; hunter’s rifle drops.

Ooh. Firstly I love the description of dawn, there just something warm and pleasant about that particular time of The day. The unflinching gaze of the deer caught the hunter off gaurd and made him to not shoot. Or was it something magical with the dear.. Loved it.

Thank you so much Ameena. YEah the deer kind of gave me the feeling of Bambi’s dad in Bambi, the cartoon one by Disney. A majesty and proudness to his demeanour.

Thank you so much Sonderwriter. I’m glad the poem appealed to you. I have family who hunt, but I think for the majority of people we don’t need to unless the deer are overpopulated or something more ecological like that or you live of the land in the bush maybe. Then again, some one did point out to me it’s the only way some people can afford organic meat.

Yeah it’s definitely a complicated and controversal topic. I feel like hunting and eating meat is part of our human nature. but at the same time it’s important to remember that this is a living being’s life one’s sacrificing- i like how ur piece showed that 🙂

The mystic aspect of the deer is palpable. I’ve felt it. I’m delighted that you’ve written so strongly about this. Happy October, Amanda!
