Music Prompt: Poem – Quatrains – “Constant Cravings” #taleweaver #amwriting #poetry

Thanks to MindLovesMisery’s Menagerie for hosting. This week’s prompt is the song: “Constant Craving” By KD Lang

Constant cravings not only for,

An addict or a pregnant gal.

Cravings that run deep, thus, inform–

Temptation in life, to resolve.

Find balm for cravings we adore,

The deadly; we’re not infallible.

What if they control us, and pour–

Salt on wounds, we’re delicate, fragile.

Some addictions, need be unformed,

Forget the drugs, the alcohol–

Constant craving beyond our core,

Craving affection, unappalled.

A deep urge, to have and to pour —

Water on our burns, all close calls.

But can you escape craving more?

Never enough, always need salves.

Constant want and feeling so sore —

Need completion, a place to fall.

Beyond bad cravings, wanting more.

Constantly seeking, peace enthralls.

Thanks Mihrank. The site I mentioned before my poem has a music prompt each Friday. I haven’t done them all, but the songs I know or like when I hear them, I try to do a poem or something on them. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I love the last line and how it answers the question the poem asks in so many visceral ways. Great poem Mandy

Excellent response to Constant Craving — may we all receive the peace we seek. Namaste. Thanks for participating

Hmm, “peace enthralls.” Makes me wonder if there’s good craving, after all. Or is that too extreme a way to desire peace? You provoke a great deal of thought, Amanda.

I suppose it depends how far our craving goes, and what gets sacrificed, and who gets hurt a long the way. Thanks for commenting Christopher.

Yes, that makes sense. Though craving is strong, it doesn’t have to out-rule all other considerations. Restraint, as Marlow says in Heart of Darkness. Thanks again!
