Poem: Ninefold – “Joyful Laughter”

Woman laughing

Her hair pushed back; flowing behind her,

Laughter, spontaneous, unrestricted.

Twirling her highlights, laughing; such life.

She smells like jasmine, sense of humor–

Amusing, giggling, she’s fancy-free,

Making her scent more fragrant, pleasing.

Laughter from her heart; a light within–

Dances in her eyes; she’s fully immersed,

Mirthful, lovable; beautiful soul.

  1. You use such evocative words here: unrestricted, immersed, lovable. Even “jasmine” becomes a matter of mirth. The photograph is fun. The poem reads happily with or as simply the text. Great crafting, Mandi!

    1. Thanks. I enjoyed this one. The form was great for the topic. In a ninefold poem the first stanza talks about something physical (her hair) and the second stanza talks about a sense (in this case smell) and the third about something spiritual (the laughter, joy is in her soul). Each line is nine syllables. It’s quite fun. Thanks for your thoughts as always, I appreciate them.
