“Wow, it gorgeous. Why am I always drawn to the most expensive clothes.” Charla muttered. “Why are the nice dresses cut well, a better colour, and made better?”

Charla began walking away from the slimming silky red dress, before stopping and deciding to try the dress on.

When she shimmied into it, her appearance in the dressing room mirror was stunning. Charla gasped, her boyfriend would love her in red.

Out of the corner of her eye, the $750.00 price tag caught Charla’s eye. She sighed slipping out of the dress; her boyfriend would love her in a less expensive dress too.

  1. Whew. Good call. Such a price for a single dress. I know for some people the price is peanuts, but it shouldn’t be. Such money can be stretched so far. Is this why it’s fiction for Moral Monday? Really well-done, Mandi!

    1. Haha. That’s not even very expensive for a dress. A wedding dress for instance is much more even for a cheaper one. Sometimes I think price is worth it, often I agree something cheaper will do and the money can be spent more wisely. Like on a debt, or in retirement savings, even towards some experience, such as a vacation. I guess more like nonfiction for this one, you are right 🙂

      1. You’re right, of course. I’m watching a show in which someone spent five thousand dollars for two pair of wedding shoes. No one seemed to bat an eye. I’d rather buy a car. (Well, put the payment down for one.) Vacation, though, sounds great for the investment. Play is valuable itself. Is that what a wedding is? Expensive play?

      2. Haha, I suppose in some regards. Creating memories? With family and friends. But I do agree people take it far and spend way more money than necessary and it’s not only the couple. When parents want to have so many guests of their own as well, the price for venues and meals goes up as well. Its not a huge surprise, so many couples just want to go to Mexico and get married, much more affordable. Thanks for the comment.

  2. Sorry, missed this last week. Sweet and touching story, and she’s absolutely right – she might look stunning in that dress, but he’ll love her no matter what she wears. Nice story 🙂

    1. Hehe. It’s always so hard when you find that perfect dress, but not in your budget. Truthfully though, sometimes you get what you pay for, but more and more there’s not much different in the quality say btw the $750.00 and $125.00 dress. And you are very right about boyfriend not caring lol

  3. How evil of that store to put that kind of price on such a beautiful dress! Did Rumpelstiltskin weave it with his gold string? Haha! Great story, I can definitely relate. Every time I see a ridiculously expensive price tag on something I like, my first reaction is always, “It ain’t that cute!” 😀

    1. Lol. No it would have to be pretty fantastic, made to fit, and real silk, satin, Italian lace etc. The problem is, many pricy dresses aren’t made well and the materials are the same as a cheap dress. My Mom sewed so She taught me about fabric quality Lol. Thanks for your comments Nortina 🙂
