Poem: Minute – “Bestfriends and Lovers” #wordhighjuly #amwriting #poetry #kaulayau

Feeling peace; in my life you’re a balm.

My body is calm;

Mouth softly turns,

Together we learn.

Gazing in your eyes, reflecting.

Smile love inflects.

Your eyes gleaming,

Both us we dream.

Magnatism, hands entwining,

Thoughtless combine.

Despite small fights,

We talk; no flight.

Sometimes you need your space, and I mine.

Eyes know our signs.

Always meet each —

Other; hands reach.

A gaze, a grin, our language known,

We both intone,

Stories we share,

Affectionate, care.

Knowing each other; intimacy.

Made intricately,

Life together,

Us forever.

  1. Together we learn. . . .

    Eyes know our signs. . . .

    We both intone,

    Stories . . .

These lines are packed with the best kind of togetherness. Intimate, equally shared. The poem is a close and healthy look at shared love. Wonderful, Mandi!

    1. Thanks Rosema. Yeah, I believe you both need space and a bit of your own lives still. Keep things interesting and have stuff to talk about and cheer each other on about too. Happy you liked 🙂

  2. A gaze, a grin, our language known…”

~it always amazes me how people in love could have a language of their own. They understand each other’s gestures and tones. Love this!

    1. Thank you Maria. It is definitely a thing with people in love. But also, a thing with people you just know well. Someone you’ve worked with for years, bestfriends, siblings etc. Not quite the same language as people in love, but a similar phenomena. Thanks for reading. Hope your weekend was great!
