Three Line Tales: The Ferry to Hades #3LineTales #greekmythology #ferry

Thank you to the lovely Sonya of 100 Words or Less for hosting 3 Line Tale prompts each week.

Ferry
Charlie Hang

Come ride the ferry cross the Acheron, the boundary between earth and Hades; come all souls, Charon assures you may enter; your relatives paid your way, placing in your mouth a coin; once entered Hades in the gorge, you can never leave.

Come ride the ferry where the five rivers meet – Styx, Phlegethon, Acheron, Lethe, Cocytus – converging in the marsh called Styx; the river, the marsh, the goddess, all gods swear upon it when they make their oaths, to keep their promises; come ride the ferry dear ones.

Come, where they say, the goddess Styx has healing powers, bathe in her river Styx, become invulnerable; see how Achilles mother dipped him in the Styx, so no enemy could end his life, there was just the exception of his tiny heal; come lost souls take the ferry to Hades, eternity of joy or pain awaits.

*To give credit: Angie Trafford doing TLT this week used a bit of Greek Mythology and the character of Hades in her TLT sentences. Check-out her blog in the link above. Thank you to Angie for the idea of using Greek Mythology and the afterlife; your idea allowed me to explore the concept in a different direction.

Poem: Rondel – ” Thoughts too Deep” #wordhighjuly #poetry

——–

Contemplate and speculate,

Absorbed in careful thoughts explore.

Searching within, why am I torn?

Decisions difficult await.

——

I’m no philosopher ruminating,

Wonder without, within my core.

Contemplate and speculate.

Absorbed in careful thoughts explore.

——-

Thinking, wears one out, unsated,

Answers true or some folklore.

Scientific explanation, something more?

Faith and the heart have their say made.

——–

Contemplate and speculate

——–

What is wrong and what is done right?

Consumed by such thoughts of inner voice.

The problem: always, forever, having choice

Sometimes the wish to never think fights.

——-

Float away, grace whirlpool, without sight.

Easier to be blind than make your choice.

What is wrong and what is done right?

Consumed by such thoughts of inner voice.

——-

Is there strength in your heart, might?

Or do you follow whoever’s voice?

Let others think for you, make choices.

Choosing right, requires foresight.

It might appear to you in this picture, Mom has fenced us in the backyard and left us alone. We love escaping to the yard to play and run circles, but truly, Bugsie and I, we’re inside dogs.

Mom needs us close to her where we can snuggle and give her kisses when she least expects them. She wants us inside to give us the last two bites of whatever she is eating.

She also needs Bugsie and I to guard the doors and look out the windows. Sometimes, the front door opens and it’s Dad coming home from work and he’s so much fun; Dad wrestles with us and takes us on runs in the morning.

Mom and Dad take both Bugsie and I to the dog park. We went down the off leash trail, running freely back and forth, sniffing, and sometimes checking on Mom and Dad. Where the dog park trail ends is a fence, and that’s where this picture is taken.

And at the end of the trail, I’m happy to go home. Bugsie and I lay beside each other and nap. It’s heavenly.
