Jeff had drank too much that night. It started with the tequila shots, followed by rye and gingers, and ended with shots of jäger. He walked through the bar, connected to his condo building, and he stopped in the lobby. He noticed a pretty woman, wearing green and standing by herself. She must be waiting for a cab, Jeff thought.

Jeff started talking to the woman, leaning up against her, laying it on thick as he could.

“Hey baby. You’re gorgeous. You’ve such beautiful green eyes. Would you like to come upstairs to my condo and have a drink with me? You don’t have to stay there unless you want to. I can’t believe you’re here alone and you haven’t a wedding ring. Women as beautiful as you don’t come to this bar often.”

The woman didn’t say a word and Jeff tried to get a kiss from her but she was rigid, ignoring Jeff’s lips.

“Please, one kiss. You’ve such plush lips. I want one kiss, only to remember such a lovely woman by.You’ll like it. I’m a fantastic kisser.”

The woman didn’t move. She never even turned her beautiful smooth greenish-skinned face towards him. Jeff became angry at her and Jeff tried to turn the woman towards him, she ended up falling on the floor. Then he was in tears, hoping she was alright.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to knock you over. I’ve had too much to drink. It’s only you’re gorgeous and I’ll probably never see you again. It’s okay. I know you’re not interested. Sorry to have disturbed you.” Jeff said helping the woman stand up, before heading up to his condo. He collapsed on his bed and slept.

The security guard watching the camera footage of a drunk man hitting on a plant he thought was a young woman, had tears running down his face. He couldn’t stop laughing as the histarical scene played out.

Maydays: Poem – Tankas – “The Best Kind of Mad.” #Maydays #amwriting

Thank you to K.L. Caley from new2writing for hosting #Maydays prompts. Today’s prompt is good madness.

——

I love that you have that —

Good madness, a bit of quirk.

Laughing and smiling,

I’d rather have you a bit crazed,

I worry when you’re lost, sad.

——

When you’re mad I know you’re —

Alive; your heart beating genius.

Found in Wonderland,

Where my favourite Alice went,

Your my Mad Hatter; my match.

——

Not everyone would get —

Your peculiar mind which bends, forms.

Brilliant, but held,

By societies normal.

I love your real craziness.

——

Genuinely you,

I never worry you’re fake.

You always reveal,

A hint of absurdity,

You finish my sentences.

—–

Your crazy begins,

It meets with my own and we’re —

Blessed to be us; home.

In our otherly world lost,

We are the best kind of mad.

Writing 101: NonFiction – A Hopeful Trip to Vancouver. #everydayinspiration #amwriting

Today’s Writing 101 prompt has to do with maps, picking a location and writing about it.

——–

Downtown, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

I would like to have a little vacation this summer. I want to spend a week at most, in Vancouver, BC. My plan is to use airmiles for two plane tickets and book an apartment through AirBnB, to share with my brother located in downtown Vancouver.

I have to do more research for this trip. I wanted to see if I could get flights to Vancouver first but the airmiles website is being difficult and it’s not showing any available flights to Vancouver. What good is saving up your airmiles if you can’t use them when you would like to? I have looked at booking flights without airmiles and there are a ton of flights flying back and forth daily from Edmonton to Vancouver and vice versa, so there is no reason I shouldn’t be able to buy a flight using airmiles.

I’m also searching for a few activities to do in Vancouver. Since the Winter Olympics were held in Vancouver not so long ago, I would like to see the Olympic torch. I want to shop in Vancouver and I would like to go to Stanley Park and Granville island.  I would also like to visit a pub or two and see something at a local gallery or museum. If I can get out to a beach near Vancouver, that would be great as well. Most places I can take the train to and from and I believe there is a bus you can buy a two-day pass to and use it to see the tourist destinations in Vancouver.

I’v been to Victoria on Vancouver Island, but never the city of Vancouver itself so I’m excited to check the city out. Hopefully, I’m able to plan the trip for some time soon. Thanks for reading.

Busy-ness: Demonstrations of Character

Showing personality and character through hum-drum every day moments.

A Writer's Path

Waiting

by Andrea Lundgren

Busy-ness is generally considered unimportant when it comes to plotting. We don’t usually make space for it, because it isn’t central to the plot. Unless we are writing a romance and need a quiet moment for the two characters to interact, we try to keep the pace going.

“I’m so tired we’ve been driving for hours,” Luc muttered to Felicia.

“Well there’s a motel up ahead. No nevermind. We’re not staying here honey.”

Luc yawned. “I can’t drive anymore tonight. It’s 12:30 a.m.”

“This motel has dusty rooms crawling with roaches and resembles the Bate’s Motel.”

“It’ll be fine you’ll see.” Luc said. He parked the car infront of Reception and came back with a key card. He showed Felicia the key card.

“I’ll sleep in the damn car. If you’re still alive in the morning I’ll come in and shower.”

“If you’re sure,” Luc said. “Want to see it first?” Felicia remained mute.

Luc opened room 62 which was surprisingly clean and modern. The beds and linens were new and the bathroom had been renovated.

He thought about getting Felicia but Luc was also fond of stretching out in a bed to himself.

——

It was 8:00 am when Luc received a knock on his room door. “Sir are you Luc Rareson?” A grisly state trooper asked.

“Yes,” Luc said tentivily.

“Is this your car?” The trooper pointed to a black SUV, half covered up.

“Yes, my girlfriend was sleeping in there. She refused to sleep in the room.”Luc said ashen.

“What’s your girlfriend’s name Mr. Rareson?”

“Felicia Mayer, where is she? What happened to her?”

“I’m sorry to tell you this sir but Felicia Mayer was murdered in your car last night.” The trooper said gently.

Tears leaked out Luc’s eyes.”I should’ve made her stay inside the room. I should’ve insisted.”

“We have the individual who murdered Felicia in custody. He won’t tell us his real name. He was wearing an old goalie mask from hockey and says his name is Jason Voorhees.”

“Are you kidding me?” Luc sobbed.

“No,” the state trooper said.”Ironically enough, today is Friday May 13.”

Maydays: Poem-Free Verse – “Burning Him Down” #Maydays #amwriting

Thank you to K.L. Caley of new2writing for hosting #Maydays prompts. This prompt has to do with fire or anything relating to fire.

He peeks at her below a baseball hat,

He’s plays with a match; he doesn’t even —

Realize he’s heading for the flames and —

He’ll be consumed by an inferno fast.

Her lips are scarlet sin, and she is —

Sucking back her whiskey; burning down —

Her soft white throat, it smokes and his gaze means–

He’s buying her next round, with Diet Coke.

Her eyes are amber flashes, synging with —

Coal black and thickened eyelashes; she is —

Fluttering at him; sulphurous voice sings.

Dissolving smoke; she’ll set fire rational.

(Any he had) until he’s choking ashy smoke —

Second -hand; a dangerous demon,

Sitting on his knee; his fantasy he —

Inhales and she’s blackening his weak heart.

She’s burning through his defence and he is–

Lusting for her skin; white ash torching within,

He’s never going to win; she’s hell —

Burning him for sin; passion ignited,

A red lighter starts the desire smoking.

She’ll go through him; like cigarettes lit,

Feeding her ire, her desire; he’s on trial.

Pointed heels lost, fire engine red toes peek,

He worships at her feet, and she consumes him.

She stands flames enveloping her; within her.

Enthralling curves and eyes seeing inside him,

Thawing out the cold; she’ll burn him down.

Raging inferno of heat, flames will kill him.

A pile of ashes she leaves in his stead.
