Poem: Mirrored Refrain – “Darkest Hour”

——–

When light is fluorescent pale white,

It’s not the same as pure sunlight,

You loved me at my darkest hour,

When I loathed myself you loved me.

—–

When dawn ascends the sky pastel,

Shades of pink, and blue, and pale orange.

When I loathed myself you loved me,

You loved me at my darkest hour.

—–

Storms come grey, green tornadoes fly,

Shelter I find within your sight.

You loved me at my darkest hour,

When I loathed myself you loved me.

——

Eating breakfast while the rain pours,

We need rain, our world’s fire bright orange.

When I loathed myself you loved me,

You loved me at my darkest hour.

——

Blizzards white and blinding, nearly froze.

But thought of you, kept up the fight.

You loved me at my darkest hour.

When I loathed myself, you loved me.

—–

Sky’s clear blue with puffy cotton,

And our sun’s brilliant blazing orange.

When I loathed myself, you loved me.

You loved me at my darkest hour.

  1. Telling crafting of colors and the refrain. The darkness appears to be resolved through color in living. Because there was companionship in “my darkest hour,” now there’s the chance for real (colorful) existence. Encouraging–inspiring–verse, Mandi!
