Poem: Reading Sonnet

When the evening comes I have no voice,

To tell you that, there is nothing left.

I’ve done what I’ve set out to do,

And now I must rest to feel alive again.

I sit in bed and read the stories;

My reading voice is loud and clear.

I hear it in my head as I read,

It narrates and asks the questions.

Until the night comes creeping in,

And I’m too fatigued to do anything,

Then I must sleep and heal each day.

For tomorrow brings more tales to read;

A great expansion of the mind.

To be physically exhausted

But mentally revived.

  1. I love it when the night falls and it’s all quiet.. I feel tired most of the times, from the day’s activities, but sometimes I can hear myself think, and when I read it feels like I’m reading out loud.. in my head.
    Love this, Mandi 🙂

  2. The first line captivates. I used to have work activities at night. Maybe I will have them again. But the day seems over before I start a night-time job experience. “My reading voice” I can relate to, too. “It narrates and asks the questions.” Yes, it does. Mine does, even to ask me why certain writing choices were made as well as to wonder about the story. Engaging crafting, Mandi. Thanks!
